Back to the daily grind....

Today I had my first day of the spring semester. Awesome. I love 8am biology labs that last for 3 hours. I haven't worked since Saturday night and that was an awful night..
I walked in for my shift at 6pm to find that the restaurant was completely full.. and on top of that, I was the first girl there, and yet somehow I ended up with one of the sections up front. Then, once the earlier girls were finished, none of them did any of their sidework. The final 3 girls closing (including yours truly) were so overwhelmed by the time it was 12:30 and we were singing the last call song. Tomorrow I'm going back to Hooters and hopefully I'll be making some money!!

I've also decided that I'm going to try to post one daily Hooters girl tip once a week, at the very least. So tonight my tip is..... make friends with the trainers. They are usually the girls who have been there the longest, the girls who are closest with the managers, and almost always are the girls who make the most money. If you're new to Hooters, get as close as you can to your trainer(s), and DO YOUR JOB CORRECTLY! It will help you in the long run. Don't be lazy. The lazy girls don't go anywhere.

Hoots and kisses!

Interview #1, Interview #2, and Hooters Girl Orientation

Interview #1
I had been talking about applying at Hooters for a few months, and one day I decided to go for it. My best friend came along and applied with me for moral support. The application was like any other standard job application. Personal information, previous employers, etc...
We waited for a few minutes until an assistant manager came out to briefly interview each of us separately. He asked about any body piercings, tattoos, availability, and transportation. He then told me that I would get a call within the next couple of days about setting up another interview with the general manager. I got a call the next night. He asked me to come in the next week to meet and go through the official interview, and I gladly accepted.

Interview # 2
I walked into Hooters wearing a cute pair of skinny jeans and a cute shirt that showed a little bit of cleavage, so they could see that I was fun, outgoing, and that I had the body to work there. Since I was hired in the winter, I couldn't wear a sundress (which is what the would like applying girls to wear.. just throwing that out there!!!). I sat down at one of the front tables and waited for a few minutes. The general manager (I'll call him GM in all of my other posts) was on a conference call, but another assistant manager was there to interview me. He asked me why I was applying to become a Hooters girl, what qualities I had that would make me a good Hooters girl, what my favorite food item on the menu was, and just gave me a lot of information on the management and what they do for the girls. Then, GM finally came out to meet me, shook my hand, and said, "You're hired! You're exactly what we're looking for!"
I was so thrilled! They told me to come back the next day for orientation with a couple other girls. I was so excited! I was finally going to become a Hooters girl!

Orientation

I was one of 4 girls at Hooters at 3:00 that afternoon for orientation. We sat at one of the big round tables in the middle of the restaurant and began filling out tax paperwork. Once that was over with, GM came out of the office and went over the Hooters girl handbook with all of us. It includes all of the rules a Hooters girl must know.
  • We can't wear our uniforms outside of Hooters, unless at a promo event.
  • We cannot wear jewelry with the exception of up to two earrings in each ear, and engagement/wedding rings.
  • We must always be "camera-ready" (uniform must be clean, wearing lipgloss, mascara, blush/bronzer, etc.), hair must be down and styled with no accessories such as hair ties, bobby pins, clips, braids, etc.. and we must look natural, or as they say "wholesome, yet sexy".
  • Good hygiene is a must, as expected.
  • Back to earrings - studs only.. nothing extreme.
  • All tattoos must be covered and facial piercings must be removed.
  • Nails must be either natural or painted french. No crazy colors like green, blue, orange, red, etc.. and at my location, they ARE somewhat lenient on this rule.. we are allowed to have light pink nail polish.
  • UNIFORM - nude bras with the white uniform and black bras with the black uniform.. CLEAN white sketchers that you can get at Hooters, scrunch socks, control top panty-hose, black or brown pouch (depending on the day and uniform worn), and of course, the infamous orange shorts are all that makes up the uniform. On a more personal note, the managers and girls will tell you if your underwear is showing, so I'd suggest either wearing your skimpiest pairs or wearing none at all. Trust me, you'll thank me in the long run. Nobody likes panty lines and wedgies!!!

I may add more information from the handbook later on..

After we went through the handbook and signed the last page, agreeing to the companies policies, GM called one of the veteran Hooters girls over to determine our uniform sizes. I wear and XS in both my shorts and tank tops. We are also given the option to wear the crop tops, but they must be approved by a manager upon purchase. I have a couple crop tops, but I rarely wear them.

GM then took us around the building and showed us where everything was. It was quite a bit to absorb all in one day, but within the first 2 weeks of working, I learned quickly. Once orientation was over, it was past 7:00. And people say our job is simple...

Veteran Hooters Girl... Blog Newbie

As you can tell, this is my first post. I've never seen someone's first blog post, so I'm just going to do it my way. You can call me CM. I've been working as a Hooters Girl in a town right outside of a well-known city for about a year now. I also have a boyfriend who I've been dating since August, 2010. But you'll hear more about him later on..

Many may think that its pathetic, but Hooters is my life. I work at least 4 days a week and for the most part, I have a blast doing it. Sure, I have people come in and say inappropriate things occasionally, but for the most part, it is about having a good time. The Hooters staff is like one big family. All of the girls act like sisters, the cooks always look out for us and are very protective, as are the managers and regulars.

When I was first hired by Hooters, I was super interested in finding out everything there was to know about working for hooters, from the Hooter's Girl Image, to dealing with annoying coworkers, to maximizing tips, so I am going to start my blog off with the ins and outs of working as a hooters girl in every aspect.

Enjoy!
